Who are we?

  • We are HIV+ and we endeavor to be open about it and realistic regarding its meaning in our daily lives including our triumphs as well as our struggles.

  • We strive to be self-empowered and self-actualizing. We are not aligned with or sponsored by any HIV/AIDS service groups.

  • We provide a safe and supportive environment for more broad-based discussions about HIV related issues.

  • We share and provide trust, encouragement, friendship and brotherhood in a diffuse organizational structure.

What do we do?

  • Social Saturdays: On the 1st Saturday of every month we meet at the LGBT Center for conversation, food and fun. (Check the CALENDAR link for a schedule.)

  • Thrive Discussions: On the 3rd Saturday of every month we meet at the LGBT Center to discuss a topic chosen by group members. The topics are often, but not always, HIV related. (Check the CALENDAR link for a schedule.)

  • The "Thriving in SF" Yahoo Group: An internet based platform for group communication. Members can ask questions about HIV or their personal health issues and receive advice from group members, post HIV related information or organize "off the cuff" activities and opportunities to socialize. Members also receive notification of meetings, activities and events via email. (Use the CONTACT US button to join our Yahoo Group.)

  • Activities: Indoor and outdoor activities are organized and coordinated by Thrive members for Thrive members. Activities include potlucks, hikes, picnics/BBQ's, city walks and rafting trips with Healing Waters. (Use the CALENDAR button to see a schedule of upcoming activities.)

  • Political Action: Although we do not consider ourselves a political group, occasionally political issues arise that some group members feel the need to act on. A recent example is the Ryan White Funding cuts. Therefore, a sub-group of members has formed to act on these types of issues.

All of the above is created , coordinated and provided by Thriving in San Francisco,
so that we may
THRIVE!
